The County Fair

Today I attended the county fair. I took a good friend with me. I’m a believer in county fairs and have many fond memories of attending the fair in my town as a child. The fair is sacred to the town I currently live in. It might be described as blasphemous to miss the experience. So, I went. Upon arriving in the parking lot we encountered a man with a tail. This man was well past the age where it is appropriate to wear a tail. Unfortunately I was not able to take a picture. Hopefully this video will give you an idea of what we saw.

We started with the amazing fair food and had a delicious space burger. We then spent some time looking at the booths and exhibits. We saw this lovely quilt in the quilting section.
I have no words….

As we walking into one of the buildings a man from the cotton candy booth yelled, “Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the cotton candy!” We did NOT cross the road.

We then found ourselves exiting the arts and crafts building where we were greeted by Normon’s long lost cousin: Pete the purple turkey. Too bad I can’t bring him home and display him near my mantle.

We then decided to attack the fair food in full force. We enjoyed a gyro, fresh lemonade and a Lion’s ear that sent us spiraling into a food coma.
Ahhh the fair food!

On our way to procure our Lion’s ear we saw four men wearing uniforms (we’re not sure if they were police or park security) walking towards us. It looked like a scene from The Avengers gone wrong. They were strutting four-wide and almost appeared to be moving in slow motion. One was adjusting his belt, while another was scanning the crowd ahead of them. They pretty much took up the whole sidewalk and we peasants just parted like the Red Sea to let them pass. Perhaps they were filming a low budget movie at the county fair.
(They wish they looked this cool!)

Meanwhile they were pumping this classy song through the loud-speakers.

All in all this year’s fair adventure was just that, an adventure.
Just your average girl who's life has taken some unexpected turns.
